Old BRP Lost & New BRP Invalid

Post by jagadishkumarp » Wed Jan 02, 2019 10:36 am

Hi Guys,

I am in a bit of confusion and was hoping to get some insights regarding the issue i'm having with my BRP

Here is the sequence of events that happened
  • Tier 2 Extension Approved (valid till 14th Jan 2023) - 19th Dec 2018
  • Lost the old BRP card and reported - 22nd Dec 2018
  • New BRP (from tier 2 extension) arrived - 27th Dec 2018
however, when am checking my right to work using the following link: https://right-to-work.service.gov.uk/prove/id-question it shows that my new BRP is not valid, I'm assuming that the home office cancelled the new BRP (before I received it, they should have cancelled the old one). My old BRP is still being shown as valid when I check using the same service.

At this point in time, I have raised a complaint using: https://www.biometric-residence-permit. ... s/location (haven't got a response yet)

Q) My old leave to remain expires in a few days (14th Jan 2019), am i legally allowed to stay and work as my extension was approved and only BRP is invalid?
Q) I have applications ongoing for my dependents extensions, will this cause an issue for them?

Can someone please advise regarding my situation. There are no other resources online regarding my scenario.

Thanks in advance and wishing all a happy new year.

Hi I've got the exactly same problem. Did you solve this and how? Thank you!!

A bit worried that I will have to apply for a replacement as I have quite some travel plans.
