Hello,
I’m a Canadian citizen, registered as commonlaw in Spain, with my Spanish partner. We live in Spain, but my original long-term visa I arrived with expires in Jan 7. We have a 4 night trip booked to Italy on Jan 13.
I do not yet have my residency card, it’s processing currently and i nightly doubt it will come through before our trip.
I went to the Spanish immigration office and they said it “should” be fine, vaguely citing that because I am travelling with my partner (who is born in Spain) that it’s ok. Also saying something about my Canadian passport.
I am so anxious it won’t actually be fine.
Canadian passports do come with a 90 day Schengen visa, not one you apply for - but I don’t know how that works in terms of the period after a long-term visa expires.
I understand this is complicated and likely could involve a few different laws, but given the Spanish immigration office wasn’t so helpful I’m not really sure where to turn.
Any advice would be hugely appreciated! Thank you so much.
