Visa Extension for Wife from NZ

Post by LucasUK91 » Thu Jan 10, 2019 8:53 am

Hi all,

At a very stressful point right now and I could do with some advice please.

My partner is from New Zealand and she has been in the UK with me since February 2015. After the first 2 years or so we paid lots and she was granted Limited leave to remain as a partner for 30 months. Her Biometric Residence Permit ends in February so we need to renew now. Which I think would just be an extension on her partnership visa.

We're worried because the application forms are saying we have to pay £1000 for IHS (5 years worth) even though she has been here for 4 years nearly and we've already paid a lower IHS fee before. And the application will be another £1033! Is this all correct?

We got married in August 2018 so are we applying for the right visa and is £2033 correct? Also, its saying we have to get her fingerprints and photographs done again?

Hopefully someone here can explain things a bit better as the gov website is confusing us more.

Kind regards,

LucasUK91

Photos and fingerprints are done for every application made so yes, she will need to do it again.

Ihs has recently been doubled from £200 per year to £400 per year so yes, £1000 IHS fee is correct and yes the visa fee is £1033.

Thanks for the clarification.

We've already paid thousands, then we have to pay over £2033 more, then next year if we apply for indefinite leave to remain it will be £2389.

It's ridiculous the amount of money they charge, also considering she is a full time teacher which is a job we need in the UK and we pay tax and national insurance :(
