Biometric appointment rules

Hi, my husband is British though I currently live in Moscow, Russia. Could you be so kind to tell me what happens at Bio metric appointment? Do I need to bring there all our supporting documents (financial papers from my husband) to be scanned? Or may I send them to Sheffield before? Or will I be given some kind of info to include to supporting documents?
Can I send everything to my husband and he then send them all together to Sheffield?
