Spouse visa sponsorship requirements

Post by Meesha » Sat Jan 12, 2019 11:10 pm

Hi forum members,
I am asking this for a girl who works at beauty salon.
She holds British citizenship and divorced with 5 years old son. Her son is not getting any support from her husband as her husband lives on Govt provided resources.
She lives in council house as single parent, getting all benefits which she qualifies for. She earns only £900/months for working in salon with cash in hand.
Now she plans to marry in India and bring her husband over here. How can she sponsor her husband?
Is she required to stop taking any benefits?
Does she need to provide evidence of £18600/annum salary with six months payslips as proof?
What can she do to make it happen?

Does she bank the income and declare it for taxation purposes? At £900 per month, she is not liable for income tax, but she is for National Insurance. And she needs to declare it for taxation purposes even if she is not liable for income tax.

Also, it sounds like she is not salaried, in which case, she will need 12 months worth of earning proof, not just 6 months. And yes, she will need to prove £18,600 worth of annual earnings.

Can she increase the number of hours she works? Or alternatively, can she do a second job? She will need to earn about £8000 per annum in order to sponsor her non-EEA spouse.
