Returning to Ireland after final Stamp 2

Hi all,

My partner is on his final Stamp 2 renewal which expires in July. We are just wondering once it expires how long he has to stay out of Ireland before he can return...on a tourist visa?

Also, short of getting married, is the only other way to stay on past July to get an employer to sponsor him?
