Received reply from my case worker saying that they need thorough checks on my case....Not sure what else I can do now :| What have I done to make these checks so long...
Dear Ms X

I am the caseworker for your application.

Your case is currently on hold until all the necessary checks have been thoroughly carried out as stated in the letter I sent you.

Unfortunately I am unable to elaborate on what these issues are and the time frame on when they will be completed. As you can appreciate the HO deals with a significant amount of applications each day and sometimes extra time is required to resolve any complex issues.

Again I can only apologise for causing you undue distress but the HO is doing everything we can to resolve your case.

Hi mate,

When did you enrolled your biometrics?

I haven't got any luck to get through the casework team and actually have a reply from a real caseworker. All replies I got so far are from robotics saying the same thing. What have you done to get your caseworker emailed you directly?

It is almost 2 months for me now, whatever check they wanted to do should have been completed (if it is really the case). So I don't believe they are really doing any check, they just put cases require additional checks to the 6months queue...

Hello,

I am still waiting for the decision on my ILR application. I finally requested my MP to escalate my case 2 days ago and received an email from MP's office that they have escalated my case with Home office. I have also emailed to home office on their complaint email id about my case. My bio-metric appointment was on 14th December'18. It was a straight forward application through Tier 2 SET(O).

What your experience about home office complaint email id? Did anyone receive decision quickly on their application after emailing to home office? The automated reply says that home office aim to reply within 20 working days which means I will have to wait until February.
Dear Pinam, I submitted on the 14th of Dec as well. Which centre did you present to? I did that at Glasgow
Any update on your case @kiwitt?
not really...

Dear all,

Has anyone gone through the ombudsman complaint procedure yet?

My timeline:

Application submitted online: 4 Dec, ILR (Tier 2 Gen)
Biometrics: 10 Dec, Mark Lane
4 escalations, complaint email, second complaint, MP called and was told that "background checks" were being conducted, followed up with a letter last week, no response so far. I was contacted by HO and told that I should not escalate or complain again until MP gets an answer and then I can go the round again...

My case is super straightforward, two employers, none received any quiries from HO.

Another thought - does anyone know, if we apply again and pay again for super priority while the first application is being reviewed, could we get the decision within 24 hr and get reimbursed for the first one? I desperately need my papers in the next two weeks...

Many thanks in advance

Folks - a quick update.

Background:

I applied for an NTL BRP on 11 Dec and provided bio-metrics etc on 13 Dec.

My application was granted on 02 Jan. I had by then written to my MP (he never bothered to respond!); escalated my case two times (never received any response at all!); and formally complained to the Home Office on 24 Dec.

I never received any email informing me of the approval of my application. Received an email and then the card on the same day from DX on 04 Jan.

Update:

Received an email response to my official complaint from the Home Office earlier today.

In summary, the email (a) offers an apology for not delivering the promised 24 hour turn-around, and (b) advises that the fees paid for the super priority services will be refunded to me>

---

As I have done before, I would again recommend that those who have suffered delays to the processing of their applications should consider filing an official complaint.

Best of luck to all!

Hi Timothy

I enrolled on 5 Dec, so 7 weeks for me now. The case worker emailed me after my MP send out an email to HO. His email went out on 13th Jan, and I received the letter about my delay on 15th.

Before that I have escalated three times, and received three generic email on it's going to be 6 month blablabla.

I think maybe there is another team doing the verification of documents, and the case worker need to know if the documents are genuine before she can make decision. But I agree with you, two month should be enough for them to verify everything. If this is standard process for every applicant, why would it take longer time to check on my documents compare to others in the same situation? Doesn't make sense.

I have no idea what to do now.. I wrote an complaint to complaints@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk on 2nd Jan, but havent heard anything back yet. And my MP hasn't replied.

I hope all our waiting could end soon :( I was looking forward to go home for new year in February, probably not going to happen now.

Hi momozz and Timothy,

I feel your pain as I’m in the same position. The fact that they charge applicants for a super priority service yet two months later they email you saying they haven’t completed all their checks on the application is beyond ridiculous.

I’ve been waiting since 28th Nov and am yet to hear back from a case worker. I’ve received the generic email about the application still being under process and that they expect to make a decision within 6 months twice now – once on the 19th Nov and then again yesterday on the 21st so that looks like a standard monthly system update being sent out on all applications showing as ‘pending decision’ at their end.

I wrote to my MP and complained to the HO email address; both on Thursday 17th Jan and am yet to hear back from either of them. This is honestly the most frustrated I think I’ve ever been in life. I really do hope that the misery ends for us all soon in that we get our decisions before the end of the month, somehow…

Hi Guys, I am waiting to hear back for my Set (0) Tier2 > ILR since 27th Decemeber. We have to bear in mind that if we don't hear back within 5 days then the application is indeed in 6 months pile now ( I was told this when I called the HO helpline number recently) and we can expect a decision anytime from few weeks to 6 months and in some cases even more, So all we can do is wait. There is no point stressing about it, it's a mindset thing really. Imagine if you made a normal application then we would have easily waited 6 months. If we will try to escalate the case out of the way then we will certainly get a 'your case is complex' reply back making your anxiety even worst. This is the best time to practise patience :D

Hi,

I had the exact though earlier last week regarding re-applying.
You will get anything reimbursed from your previous application.
You will need to pay another 3018 to reapply - which is fine as long as they give the decision in 24 hours.
I am not entirely sure - how the actual procedure works i.e. do we need to withdraw first before reapplying again or we can just make another application altogether which might void the previous application.
Not entirely sure though - and have no idea where to get the right information from as I doubt if someone from the forum has done that ever.

Hello All,

I just wanted to add my timeline here. The more data the better!

Visa Type: Tier 2 General to ILR / SET(O), same employer for 5 years, no dependents
Date of Online Application: 9 Jan 10:20AM
Date of Email Confirmation (generic 6 months): 10 Jan 6PM
Date of Biometrics: 15 Jan 8AM at London Premium (20 Mark Lane) – there was quite a long wait even though I was the tenth applicant of the day due to families with children having to scan all their documents, but all the Sopra Steria staff seemed so kind with big smiles on their faces which I really appreciated. You can ask them to scan documents that you forgot to scan. I didn’t know but document checking is included in the premium lounge appointment.
Date of Submission: 15 Jan 8AM – I called the UKVCAS helpline on 16 Jan 12PM to check if and when my application was officially submitted. Apparently the time of submission is interpreted by the UKVCAS as the time of checking into your appointment.
Date of Email Decision: 16 Jan 4:44PM
Date of Decision Letter: haven’t received this yet
Date of BRP Delivery: 21 Jan 7:48AM – just shoved into my letterbox…

Good luck to everyone :)

Hi,

has anyone applied in Croydon for tier 2 general? If so, how long did it take?

Does the refund comes before the email confirmation or it can happen both ways?

I applied for mine on the 4th December in Croydon in person and still no update, only a generic email from them. I believe my case hasn't even been assigned to anyone.

I need to travel next week and I am getting desperate.

Thank you.

Looks like your local MP has more power as I still have not been able to get through the home office firewall to reach anyone at the casework team. I have contacts of my local MP's case workers so I can talk to them directly. They are very helpful but the only thing they can do is to call the "UKVI's MPs team", which is close but still no direct interaction with the UKVI casework team.

From what has happened to other people in this thread, I thought UKVI would start looking on our case once our complaint letters or MP's letters reach UKVI (after the 20 days turnaround time), but looks like this conclusion doesn't apply anymore as you wrote to them on 2nd Jan. Really bad news!

I have a similar situation as you - due to travel on Feb. Fortunately I didn't book anything for the last Xmas. Many people's Xmas holidays were ruined because of UKVI's fraud selling.

I will look on how to raise a Judicial review or complaint to Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman. These may take long time and do not work, though.

Hi mate,

We are on the same timeline since 28 Nov.

I am sure your local MP would reply to you, the slower they are, the more power they have (hopefully). BTW, you need to mention your address when writing to them.

Yeah, by the end of Dec, now by the end of Jan, maybe by the end of Feb - UKVI is a real hopeless department..

We are on the same timeline indeed.

I did include my full address as someone mentioned that I might not get a response without that information as I suppose they need to verify that I really do live in their constituency which is fair enough so fingers crossed I hear back from him/his team at some point.

End of Jan is now fast approaching so I'm not going to hold my breath but literally don't know what else to say at this point!

I sent the complain email last week but by mistake I sent it to complaints@homeoffice.gov.uk (border force)
instead of complaints@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk (home office).
Just checking if the others have sent it to complaints@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk?

Thanks
