Registering as Self Employed on Spouse Visa

Post by Chris_Lloyd » Tue Jan 29, 2019 2:04 am

This is probably a simple answer...I hope.
Me and my US fiancée are applying for the U.K. spouse Visa. All going well we get it and then she has to find a job in England.
We are both professional dancers. Her aim is to obviously get work as a dancer. Dancers are basically all self employed. Will she be able to register as self employed with HMRC once she’s in the U.K.? Because if she’s getting paid into her British bank account I want to make sure she’s able to declare it.
Also does she get a N.I number? Tax Reference No.?

She must apply for her national insurance number.

She must register as self employed with hmrc and get the relevant utr numbers etc.

Presumably you will get married abroad and apply for the spouse visa. Or are you planning on applying for the 6 lo th fiance visa to then marry within the UK?? If the latter, she won't be permitted to work until she switches to a spouse visa after the wedding.

Also, do you meet the financial requirement to sponsor her?
