FLRM - 6 weeks not cohabitating

Post by runnergirl27 » Tue Jun 19, 2018 1:35 pm

Hi everyone, been reading through many posts on this forum and so many things have been very helpful!

Quick question - does anyone foresee a problem in my application if myself (applicant) and my sponsor (british citizen) have lived apart for 6 weeks? I know they allow up to 6 months apart, but just wondering if I'm getting stressed for nothing.

Long story short: we lived together in Canada for a year, sponsor moved back to the UK early September to look for jobs, and I moved to the UK on a Tier 5 Visa 6 weeks after that when my work contract was finished.

By the time we apply for FLRM (unmarried parters), we'll have been living together for over 2 years, have ample documents to prove it (from both countries), and can even glaze over the 6 week period with our documents if we really wanted to. (IE, Provide canadian documents until September, then switch to UK documents October onwards).

Do we need to specifically mention the living apart thing? Obviously they could put 2 and 2 together by looking at passport stamps, so is it worth getting worked up about this time spent apart?

Thanks in advance for any insight on this. :)

Overthinking. It should not be an issue.

Hi again, I'm reviving an old thread of mine to post a document checklist for the accommodation/cohabitation part of my unmarried partner FLRM application. Truth is, I'm not actually applying until May/June time, but I'm trying to get everything in order now. Any help on this checklist/my questions would be really appreciated!

Background: By the time we apply, my british partner and I will have lived together for 2.5 years. Breakdown below:

Jan 1 - Feb 28 2017 - lived together at canadian address A (shared accommodation)
March 1 - October 12 2017 - lived together at canadian address B (my dad's house)
*note that my partner moved out on Sep 6 2017 to move back to the UK*
Oct 13 - Nov 3 2017 - lived together at partner's parents house in the UK
Nov 4 2017 - present - living together in our own flat.

Correspondence Documents
May/June 2017 - Canadian bank statement (me) + Canadian bank statement (partner)
October 2017 - Natwest letter (me) + Tax code letter (partner)
March 2018 - Council tax bill (joint names)
June 2018 - British Gas Direct debit letter (joint names)
October 2018 - Water bill (says COPY BILL on it since I ordered a paper copy) (joint names)
Feb 2019 - British gas account update letter (joint names)
May/June 2019 - TBD but probably british gas again since they send us a lot (joint names)

Other
- Tenancy agreement for current flat
- Letter from my dad stating we lived with him from March - Oct 2017 (and that partner left on Sep 6)
- Letter from my partner's parents stating we lived with them from Oct 13 - Nov 3 (and that partner was there before I joined)

Extras
- Work contract dated Dec 2016 showing my fixed term contract ended on Oct 6 2017
- Letter from former employer dated March 2017 stating I was in work until Oct 6 2017
- Letter to partner inviting him to an interview in the UK on Sep 20th

So now, some questions!
1. How does this look?

2. The letters from parents - they will be very short. Basically just "We confirm that applicant + partner lived with us at this address on these dates." ANything else I should be including?

3. I have very little proof of living together from Jan-Feb 2017. This shouldn't be relevant anyway, right? Since it's outside the 2 year period?

4. Does our 6 week gap from Sep 6 - October 12 2017 look OK? I'm clearly the most nervous about this part!

These forums have been great, thanks in advance for all the help! x
