Parents visit

Post by SamLon » Fri Feb 08, 2019 7:33 pm

Dear all,

My parents are applying for short term visitor visa and I am in the UK on Tier 2 visa.

My parents have sufficient funds in account and gets monthly pensions to cover their travel and maintenance cost. And they are able to prove this.

My questions is do i still need to provide a sponsorship letter declaring that i will cover their costs?

Yes, better to do that as in certain circumstances (unfortunate events like accident or health conditions or even death) the costs could easily escalate. You could word that they have enough funds, however, you are happy to sponsor/cover any additional expenses if needed.
My advice is based on personal research/experience, so pls check relevant UKVI sources.

Crucial to the success of your parents visitor visa application is documented evidence of stronger ties to their home country than they have in the UK.

Proof of financial self-sufficiency may not be enough to convince the ECO they will return home. They should submit evidence such as property ownership, dependent relatives/family ties etc., in the home country.

They should also both have private medical insurance as they will have no access to NHS facilities in the UK and medical fees are charged at 150% of the cost. The NHS will notify the Home Office of any unpaid charges.

Many thanks both Casa and srsw.

They do have property in India but I checked with them all the certificated related to property are in Hindi. what in your opinion would be best to do?

1. Attach hindi certificates along with notarised affidavit that certificates state their land holding
or
2. Get them translated and attach translated version along with original hindi version? (it will run into hundreds of pages)

or something else they can do

You need to provide a certified translation of any documents that are not in English.

https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor-vis ... st-provide

You can refer to the translation requirements section listed here as an example https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/Internatio ... ation.aspx , which should be same for other visas as well.

If they are going to travel regularly and you need to use this document again, then better to get it converted to English document (via local authorities/govt. process). But if it's just one time, then translation may be ok.
My advice is based on personal research/experience, so pls check relevant UKVI sources.
