I haven't heard back from them. I applied in December so it's just over a month since I applied. I assumed they had thousands of applications to go through so my expectations for a response was in March. If people are getting replies after 2 weeks why is our taking longer? I'm getting worried now... :?

Hi, I applied in December and no reply yet. Like you, I don't know anyone else who applied and so no knowledge of the processing times for applications like these.

All i can say its act of ruthlessness from INIS. People suffering from anxiety and stress because waiting years.

Most of them are now out of visa and have their family here.
Its so hard to continue working without have any paper work.
They should need to think about it.

He couldn't apply under 4.7 as he didn't know about it.he just only found out when his visa was expired. As you know person should need to have valid permission to apply under 4.7.
He have leave to remain application pending in the department now.

Under Luximon & Balchand judgment April 2018:

"the Minister must consider a person’s right to family and private life in Ireland when an application for a Change of Status is made under section 4.7 of Immigration Act 2004."

I understand his section 3 application is pending but he should apply 4.7 too.

INIS conclude 4.7 application very quickly according to MRCI. He might get lucky.

Visa is not mandatory.

If he came on student visa, has strong roots in Ireland etc living here for very long time, tax payer , no burden on state, family here, school going or Irish born kid.
