Is there an option to extend a visa for a short time instead of getting ILR?

Post by Wondering123 » Tue Feb 12, 2019 1:42 pm

I am currently on FLR(m) and able to apply for ILR later this year but possibly will not be staying in the UK as my husband may be granted a lateral transfer. Is there an option to avoid paying out the hefty sum for the ILR and get a short extension on my current visa? There is no point having the ILR if I am gone longer then 2 years and it is void.
Any information about options would be great.

No you can't choose what length or cost of visa you pay rather have to follow the same standard procedures. For another extension you will have to pay same expensive application fee and 3 yearly IHS of about £1200.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

It is £1,000 IHS fee for a 2.5 year visa on FLR(M) and NOT 3 years visa or IHS.
