HELP!!! Registering a child as a British Citizen

Post by nick grant » Thu Jun 12, 2008 8:10 pm

I am in the process of registering my child as a British Citizen using form MN1. I am a BC by birth but my child was born and still resides abroad (USA).

I have been told that the application has to be sent to Washington, who in turn forwards to the Home Office in the UK.

Question:

Can I forward the apllication directly to the Home Office, since I reside in the UK?

If I did this, would the application be refused?

Thanks for any advice.

The child is the applicant, as far as I understand, not the parent.

But more importantly ... are you sure there is a need for MN1 registration? When was the child born and are (or were) you married to the mother?
