FLR (M) bank statement question AGAIN :)

Post by littleladylucia » Sun Feb 24, 2019 5:18 pm

Hi guys

I have had a quick look through the posts and everyone refers to bank statements needing to be stamped. In the online application guidelines for proving co-habitation (bank account in both our names) it just mentions that I can provide bank statements but its doesn't mention anywhere that it needs to be stamped? can someone advise as I would hate to have my LTR rejected on this technicality?
Here is the text from my checklist
Examples of acceptable evidence include:

Letters or other documents from government departments or agencies, for example HM Revenue and Customs, Department for Work and Pensions, DVLA, TV Licensing
Letters or other documents from your GP, a hospital or other local health service about medical treatments, appointments, home visits or other medical matters
Bank statements or letters
Building society savings books or letters
Council tax bills or statements
Electricity or gas bills or statements
Water rates bills or statements
Mortgage statements or agreement
Tenancy agreement(s)
Telephone bills or statements

many thanks in advance!

It depends on what you require the bank statements for.

To evidence salary into bank account, the statements need to be official paper statements or online statements stamped by bank branch.

To evidence correspondence, the statements don’t need to be stamped if from online banking.

Hopefully someone can also confirm above.

Preferably get them stamped as a precaution. If you are planning to apply in future than simply call your bank and order the paper copies otherwise print yourself and ask the branch to stamp them who usually do it.

Very useful checklist. Thank you.

Is there a requirement for the wife to be working and earning? My Partner is the homemaker and I work full-time. How much salary do I need to show?

Thanks,
Me

You need to earn £18,600 if you have no children who are also applying.

The applicant or sponsor can be working and satisfy the financial requirement.

we are both working in my case, but my husband earns above the threshold I don't. I don't have to be working though (providing he meets the threshold, is my understanding)

If your husband is earning at least 18,600 only use his employment to satisfy the financial requirement.

If you also add yours, you risk confusing the Home Office and potentially creating an issue.

Regarding the bank statements as financial proof, if you have the one the bank send by post, they don't need to be stamped. If you go to the bank and they print it out for you they need to be stamped ( they will not stamp if you print it at home on your own printer). I went with my husband to the bank and asked nicely saying its needed for visa purpose and I couldn't wait 5 working days for them to send me by post and the guy just did for us straight away.

I went into branch and asked for them to print off my bank statements, the printouts looked like I had done it myself, they didn't use bank stationary, just normal printer paper. I asked if they would stamp them and they refused, explanation was that they no longer verify documents, something about a change in their security protocols. I contacted the online support and they told me the same thing.
The only way I could get proof the statements were genuine was to ask the branch manager to write a letter confirming I banked with them, how long I had banked with them and what my balance was at the time the letter was signed, thankfully this letter was on bank stationary.
I won't name and shame the bank, but they are global.

Bank branch do stamps and print on their own stationery while you wait. If one branch not cooperative then simply pop into different branch.

I would suggest you name the bank to help other members, they then may be able to plan in advance and request postal statements.

It is HSBC, in branch they point blank refused so I spoke to their online support, who also told me that their policies had changed and they no longer verify documents, I also rang the support phone number and spoke to someone else who was much more helpful, they told me that because of potential fraudulent activity by the person asking for the documents to be verified, the policy had been changed to protect their employees from unwittingly verifying something for someone using false ID.

I just had a successful application this month - with regards HSBC statements I called them and requested statements be sent out as required by home office etc. They sent out duplicate statements within a few days which I used for my application.
