Questions on Visitor Visa application form

Post by fastertabla » Sat Mar 02, 2019 11:18 pm

Hi

I would like to apply visitor visa for my Mother. She is not currently working and dont have any savings. I transfer Rs. 5000/- every month to her India account , fixed deposit of 2.5 Lakhs rupees and she has a home on her name. Given this, Can someone please advise answers for the below questions? It appears very easy questions but actually finding conflicts with others who have filled.

1. Total amount of money that you get in a year
---- I have filled 60000.00 INR as I send 5000 INR every month

2. How much money are you planning to spend on your visit to the UK?
---- She is not going to spend anything here as I will be taking care of every expense from flight, food, stay and travel. Is it okay if I put zero GBP?

3. How much money do you have in savings (in GBP)?
---- She does not have anything significant savings apart from FD. Should I put her FD money here which will not get matured until next year and not a source using which she can spend. This is another reason I want to put zero GBP in the second question as she does not have savings and cant spend with her money. If I put any figure for the second question, do they expect that she should have that money in her account OR my account proof is sufficient?

4. What are the various things I need to do show or submit that my Mother will definitely return back? Should I buy Air tickets and attach? Should I write a cover letter?

Thanks
Ganesh

1. Yes. You can potentially add interested earned on savings/fixed deposit.

2. Put some nominal amount for food, etc., e.g. £200 - £300 (expenses during travel)

3. Mention FD amount and provide FD certificate as proof.

4. Medical Insurance quotation based on the duration of the visit, to and fro flight tickets (if you don't mind potentially cancelling if visa rejected), cover letter explaining ties to home country (other family members, assets owned, etc), proof of property ownership, etc.
My advice is based on personal research/experience, so pls check relevant UKVI sources.

Unfortunately, the fact that you regularly send money to your mother actually weakens the visa application.

The Entry Clearance Office (ECO) will want to see that your mother is financially self-sufficient and there are significant ties to convince the ECO of stronger reasons to return home than she has to remain in the UK with you.

Apart from owning property, what other ties does your mother have to her home country. :?:

Visitor visas have become increasingly difficult to obtain since the Immigration Rules were tightened on 9th July 2012 and the route to settlement for adult dependent relatives was virtually closed.

Apart from home on her name, my other brothers are staying with her in the house. That can add up to the family ties she has.

What I am so puzzled about is the word self sufficient. At old age, is it not normal for the children to take care of parents and if they don't have savings or income, how can that be treated as reason for someone not going to return back for home country? If someone don't have money, can't they tour UK with someone else's expense?

Thanks
Ganesh
