Previous Name Change

Post by Joe_marsh » Sun Mar 03, 2019 11:10 am

Any comments would be appreciated.

I changed my name many years ago (15 years+) without the use of a solicitor, have lost pretty much all the paperwork that I needed at the time and all my current documents (passport etc) are all in my new name.

I am about to make a spouse visa application and noticed it doesn't ask if I have changed my name. I am inclined not to mention this as don't want to open up a can of worms, with regards to the possibility of them requiring the change of name documents etc, but if during the process they want to ask the question then I will deal with it then.

Would anyone know if they would even be able to see that I have changed my name?

The form pacifically ask that and if you don't give honest answer then if get caught anytime in future might be penalized on grounds of deception. Better to mention it regardless of when was it.
