U.K. Spouse Visa, living with family?

Post by Chris_Lloyd » Mon Mar 11, 2019 12:00 am

To make it easier my parents have offered for me and my wife to stay with them until we can get our own place. They have 2 spare bedrooms and own the property. They’re willing to provide Proof of address etc. The question is what if we only stayed a week or two and then found a different place to live? Would we have to inform someone that we have changed address so they can check it’s suitable or once we have the visa will that matter? Would we just have to tell them our new living arrangements when we renew in 2.5 years ?

No problem, in fact my husband and I did exactly the same when we first arrived in the UK. You only need to provide information of your current address when you apply for the FLR(M) visa extension.

For your initial visa, your parents will have to provide a letter stating that you will be living with them. If they have a mortgage on the property, you will need a copy of the mortgage agreement or if owned outright, a copy of the property deeds. If rented, a letter from the landlord agreeing to you living in the property.

Thanks for the reply that’s great to hear. The letter that your parents provided, I’m guessing it was typed and printed, did you get them to sign it too? Or would you say that’s not necessary?

As far as I recall, it was typed and printed. It must definitely be signed and include contact details (although no contact was made).
