Appointment date for ILR

Hello All,
Asking for a friend;
He qualifies for ILR on the 10th of April and his visa expires on 28th of April. He is planning to submit his online application on 11th April, he was wondering until when he has to attend his biometric appointment at UKVCAS? Can he book his appointment after his visa expires i.e. after 28th April or it has to be before 28/04/2019?

He should attend the appointment as soon as he can preferably before visa expiry
