Spousal visa - 17 months granted - expires same time as Spouse Tier 2 visa

Post by kwyap » Fri Apr 05, 2019 6:17 pm

Hi all,

I was granted a 17 month spousal visa (instead of 33 months), due to expire in Sep 2019, the same time as my husband's Tier 2 visa.

He's in the midst of applying for his Indefinite Leave to Remain now and should receive this before Sep 2019.

Does anyone know how I can go about extending my visa? Is it just a matter of writing in to the home office to notify them of my husbands new immigration status (assuming he gets granted the ILR) and therefore I'll get an extra 15-16 months on my spousal visa to take it to 33 months?

Been looking all around but no avail ! Would appreciate some thoughts.

Presumably you are in a tier 2 dependent visa and NOT a spousal visa, which is a completely different visa category.

A tier 2 dependent visa is NOT granted for 33 months. You are confusing the two different visa categories.

Your visa was correctly issued to expire inline with the main tier 2 general visa.

Once your spouse gets ilr, presumably based in 5 years tier 2 and not 10 years long residence, you can APPLY to extend your tier 2 dependent visa, paying the visa fee and the £1200 IHS fee for a 3 year visa extsnsion.
