VFS Global

Post by THO » Wed Apr 17, 2019 2:10 pm

Hi,

My Vietnamise wife and I married recently in the UK using a marriage visitor visa. She has returned to VN now and we are applying for the Spouse visa. I believe I must submit my documents, (bank statements, property deeds etc etc) through the London office of VFS Global.

I was told they will scan and send my documents to VFS in VN, to be attached to my wife's application, and because they handled the orignal documents, this will be accepted by the ECO.

My question is, do I need to make an appointment with the VFS, or is it a "walk in" service, just turn up during office hours and present my documents?

I can not for the life of me find a telephone number to speak to someone to make an appointment, and I also don't seem to be able to do it on-line, since the only appointments you can make ask what country you are coming from and do you want to settle in, and then take you to VFS in Vietnam.

Please help, this is driving me potty. The last thing I want to do is travel to London and have someone say, sorry you didn't make an appointment.

Thanks.

I think your wife will have to attend a VFS in VN. She will submit the docs along with your docs. You will send the docs to your wife. This is what my perception is. Wait for the correct advice.

OK, so I will answer my own question here. You just need to turn up to VFS in London, walk in service. Take a number and sit yourself down and wait...… and wait until your turn. Take your supporting documents and a printout of the front page of your partners on-line application, so you have the application reference. Also your passport. VFS will arrange your documents for you and then charge £75 plus about £25 more for courier to return your documents. They won't let you wait while they scan them.

Your original documents will then be submitted as part of your overall supporting documents.

VFS are almost totally useless, they gave me conflicting information and worried the hell out me as I thought I had had a wasted journey and we had made a big mistake with our application process. Finally, someone who knew what was what assured me I/ we were right and got on with the process. So do ask how long the person you are talking with has done the job, and speak to a few people if you think they are wrong, as likely they are. Hopeless and overpriced.
