No, only been in the UK for short visits. Is it enough if I just give birth to my child and then move back to Germany? Is there a specific residence period required?
Yes, there is no minimum residence period. Provided the child is born in the UK, the child will be a British citizen otherwise than by descent.
I believe that the OP will be subject to the habitual residence test if she were to use the NHS.
I'm a British citizen by descent, would that give me the right to pass citizenship to my child regardless of the country of birth?secret.simon wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2019 10:32 pmYes, there is no minimum residence period. No, the child would only be born a British citizen if the child was born in the UK. My original response alluded to the fact that there is no minimum residence period if the child is born to you in the UK.
