Left bio residence permit at home and returning to uk.

Post by ace2k1 » Mon Apr 22, 2019 9:46 pm

Hi all,

Im a pakistani national currently living in the uk with my husband and children.

I have been granted ilr back in december 2018 and issued with a brp.

Anyway we left uk for a trip abroad via dubai.

Not packing to return and have remembered the brp has been left at home on my table.

So my question is, will i be able to board flight at dubai airport to come back to uk,

And will i be allowed to enter uk without brp.

I have still got it and my sis has said she will bring it to airport.

In the meantime, i have a picture of my brp card saved in my google drive which i have downloaded and printed out into a4 size.

Im going from Islamabad to dubai which i have a visa for but need to know if they will stop me boarding from dubai to bham.

And i have a Large copy of the permit so o was hoping to show this.

Any advice pls.

Entering UK without a BRP wont be an issue. If you have a copy they will make their checks (might delay you for sometime at immigration) and then let you in.

The problem is if they will let you board your flight to UK from dubai. As they check a valid visa/resident permit before you will be able to board a flight I am not sure if the copy will work there.

Which airline is it?? Best to contact the airline and ask their policies.

Where is the BRP? some other city with your sis? Can she not post it or is it too short notice?

Is your husband or children British?

As already mentioned the biggest issue is not gaining entry to the UK but getting on the flight in the first place.
The airline can refuse you permission to fly and there is very little you can do about it. There is a document called a carriers waiver that will indemnify the airline from the potential fine for allowing you to fly to the UK. Border Force can issue this document but it is a pain and they will potentially want you to pay for a replacement BRP at the British Consulate. This is regardless of the fact you know where it is.

The best advice I could offer is to contact the Border Force public enquires line / email for the airport you will return to and ask them to issue a waiver to the airline. You will need the email address for the Dubai desk of the airline you are flying with and will need to have told them of the circumstances p.

You could be very lucky and dependent on your airline they may have good contacts with BF and get it resolved on your behalf.

Good luck

I am just wondering a scenario where one is at Dubai airport and looses his/her BRP. What will the airport officials/airline staff do? There has to be a contact they might be able to sort out someone in this situation given the flyer has a copy of the lost BRP.

Having said that, OP forgot the BRP at home, but kind of is a similar scenario as above.

They used to have Airline Liaison Officers dotted about the main travel points of the world. The airline would contract them with such issues and they could resolve it. This network of people seems to have shrunk and I am not sure what the process is now.
I am aware of the airline waiver document and know that it is issued by BF but it takes a bit of doing.

Lost BRP’s is a common issue, the OP has not lost it, just not traveled with it. Probably more frustrating than losing it.
I have been involved in getting a fair number of people back into the country without BRP’s. Some with less hassle than others.

Hi, can you please advise how this issue was resolved as I am in a similar situation?

My wife left her card at home and we have two days until our return flight with a 9 month old baby.

Feeling so stressed.

Any advise much appreciated
