Health Surcharge - PBS dependant - Leave to remain

Post by sivag » Tue Apr 23, 2019 10:08 am

Currently my visa is PBS dependant leave to remain. I will have to renew my PBS dependant visa for shortfall of 63 days then apply for ILR by 9th July 2019. My husband is british citizen( He has granted with UK citizenship thru ICT long term visa). When I renewed my PBS dependant visa, been informed by immigration health surcharge website that I dont need to pay any health surcharge and got the reference number.
- Could someone pls tell me for how long this reference number is valid?
- Can I use this previously used reference number again to renew my PBS dependant visa now?
- When I am trying to get a new reference number, health surcharge website is asking my husband work start date and end date - what do I need to enter here since he is UK citizen now?

Many thanks in advance.

Regards,
Siva.

You have to pay IHS for 3 years if you apply for an extension.

ICT visas are no longer exempt from IHS and you cannot use your previous Ihs reference number.

Many thanks CR001, Now I have made the IHS payment for 3 years and submitted the application by online.
However, trying to book the biometric appointments with Steria center using the link https://www.ukvcas.co.uk/home-internal.

There are few issues I am facing with their websites,

1. No free appointments are available within the next 30 days. i.e. minimum £100 appointment available only in London that's far from my location. The previous post office biometric procedure was very convenient. Is this post office - bio-metric enrollment facility no-longer available now? This Steria center is the only mandatory option now?

2. There is the facility to upload supporting documents at Steria website. - However, once I upload the documents, I could not see/get any acknowledgment that has been uploaded. i.e. When I log in again, the site allows me to upload the same document again.

- If this is the case, can I visit the Steria center with hard copy documents on the day of the biometric appointment? Are they going to charge me for uploading from their end?

3. I have generated the bank statement for last 90 days from today(26/04/2019). If I have the Bio-metric appointment on 23rd May 2019. Do I need to generate the 90 days bank statement again with the effective date of 23rd May 2019?

Could someone pls clarify the above? - Many thanks in advance.

As per my recent experience for my wife and son, you won't get free service within 30 days, might be a busy time. For me, it was about 3 weeks

2. There is the facility to upload supporting documents at Steria website. - However, once I upload the documents, I could not see/get any acknowledgment that has been uploaded. i.e. When I log in again, the site allows me to upload the same document again.
you won't get an email for uploading, best is make sure you name each file so that you know what you uploaded and at the centre, staff will crosscheck
- If this is the case, can I visit the Steria center with hard copy documents on the day of the biometric appointment? Are they going to charge me for uploading from their end?
yes, you can do it. Presently free at Manchester center.

3. I have generated the bank statement for last 90 days from today(26/04/2019). If I have the Bio-metric appointment on 23rd May 2019. Do I need to generate the 90 days bank statement again with the effective date of 23rd May 2019?
Not sure, but if you upload yourself now then it should be fine

Could someone pls clarify the above? - Many thanks in advance.

Health Surcharge for Tier2 ICT Dependant - Exemption applicable?

Post by sivag » Mon Apr 29, 2019 11:36 am

Hi,

Could someone pls clarify this? Recently I've submitted the application for Tier 2 PBS leave to remain extension. Initially, I was on Tier 2 ICT - Long term Staff partner Visa then got extended when my spouse got the settlement. System was not asking health surcharge for my initial visa on year 2016 under the exemption rule 1(i) http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2015 ... ule/2/made.

Unfortunately this time, I was forced to pay £1200 for 3 years extension. Is this rule got amended now? If yes, can you pls provide the link for updated version? OR Am I eligible to request refund if I am exempted to pay?

Thanks,
Siva.

As already advised, you are NOT exempt from the IHS charge. The rules changed on 24th November 2016, removing the exemption, w.e.f. 3 April 2017.

https://workpermit.com/news/uk-visa-tie ... april-2017

https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukia/201 ... 012_en.pdf

Even under point 2 of the link you post, the exemption for Australians and New Zealanders was also removed and they also have to pay now.

No way to avoid paying it unfortunately. If not paid, the visa will be refused.
