Proof of funds

i am unclear to when a bank statement needs to show the funds in the account. for example, if i get the bank to issue me a statement today (as I have paperless banking) but will only submit my application in August is that too long a lag even if it shows transactions from the previous 3 months (ie April, May and June).

please advise.

It is clear from your question that you haven't read the guidance notes.

If you are applying from India, read the guidance notes available on the VFS website and have a lookhere. If applying from within UK, read the guidance notes available on the UKBA website.
