FLR(M) extension using online service, help needed

Post by abelha » Thu May 02, 2019 11:01 pm

Hi, my wife is applying for an extension of her spouse visa in a weeks time. We have noticed that they have now moved to an online system and we are not exactly sure how to respond to some of the questions.

Would any of you family members be affected if your application is refused?
Here we explained that I (the sponsor) have a stable job on the UK and own a property so our intention is to settle here. A refusal will therefore be detrimental to the life we built here.

Do you have any other reasons for wanting to stay in the UK?
We weren't sure how to respond to this one. We presumed the entire application is about settling here as a spouse so by asking for other reasons, it implies anything outside that.

Anyway my wife is currently a PhD student and she is in the middle of her studies. If her application is refused then she will lose everything she worked for in the last two years. She also stated the name of the university and the course she is taking and will include a letter from the university to verify this.
Is this a reasonable answer? would this help the application for further complicate things?

I have been told that we should write a cover letter
This is something I am not keen on as we have explained the timeline of our relationship in the first application. So it seems to me quite desperate to go through all that again. Since our last application we lived in a rented apartment for 9 months, then bought the house we are currently living in, so not much complication. I also have the same job from before. Do you think it is a good idea to write one?

Finally, as my wife is a student we get a 25% discount on council tax
In the application they state that they want to see evidence that council tax is paid. Would we need to clarify this by explaining that she is a student? as I said earlier we have a letter from the university

Thank you all for your time. It is much appreciated

Thanks
A

If this is this question:Would any of your other family members be
affected if your application was refused? then I put No as they are asking about people other than you and your partner (You would of previously answered about you and your partner))

Yes, you can put the things about the university under this section. But with previous questions you have already shown that you wish to stay because of your partner so this is literally just other reasons to stay.

Extension does not need a cover letter. I just received my approval so can confirm it was fine without one. Only 'intro' I put was any information I had missed off the application by mistake

I believe they just want to see the posted bill. If it gives you piece of mind then you can add about the 25% off in an information letter.
