Accommodation for spouse visa

Post by Thanhmcgoun » Thu May 02, 2019 6:59 pm

Hello every one,

Any one here own accommodation or your parents own accommodation? I have a question: My husband is from Uk, he has been living with his family for 30 years in uk, his parents have 5 bedrooms, we are going to apply a settlement visa, i am from Vietnam so if he brings me to uk then we will live with his family so my husband should have inspections report for property or land registry and his parents write a letter to confirm both of us and give permission that I and him can live with this family because it cost £147 for getting inspections.
Thank you so much for kindly help.

Try to search more you will get more economical quote for house inspection. It can be carried out any reasonably established high street estate agent not just local council alone.

"If the accommodation is not owned by the couple (or one of them), the Rules require that there be adequate accommodation which is for their exclusive use. This need not be as elaborate as a self-contained flat. It is acceptable for a couple to live in an existing household, for example, that of a parent, uncle, aunt, sibling or friend, as long as they have at least a bedroom for their exclusive use."
AND
"Under the Housing Act, the number of people sleeping in accommodation must not exceed the following:
Number of rooms = 5
Maximum number of people allowed = 10"

If your husband's family own the property (mortgage-free) you should submit a copy of the property deeds together with an invitation for you to join the household
If the house is mortgaged, a copy of the mortgage agreement
If the house is rented, a letter from the landlord giving permission for you to live in the property.

Thank you for you kindly reply, so my husband’s doesn’t need to get inspections report for his parents’s home?

In your case it might not be necessary because there is none who non-related in property but no harm in getting such report if you get some surveyor at more affordable price.
