Proof of English knowledge - online application has

Post by Flea » Sat May 04, 2019 4:56 pm

Hi everyone!

I am applying for my UK citizenship online and the online application is asking for proof of English knowledge. I am also a US citizen so by the current rules I should be exempt from providing proof of this. Could anyone please clarify why the application should be asking for this?

Thanks!

What did you tick for the 'meeting the English requirement'??

Which form are you completing (there are different forms for different circumstances)??

Thank you very much for your help.

May help to give specific context to my query:

I was granted ILR in February 2019 and my husband is a UK citizen. I am applying for the citizenship within the UK.

I am using this form: https://visas-immigration.service.gov.u ... onality-an (so the naturalisation - AN form).

In the application form, there was no a tick box or form to “meet English requirement”. However, in the form they asked me if I have a degree taught in English, and when answering Yes, it asks for proof (Degree cert or official transcript). Might you know if this is right?

Don't tick it for the degree.

Got it. Thank you!

Just curious why it would ask for if my degree was taught in English if I meet the exemption requirements?

I studied my uni degree in the states but I do not have that documentation as it’s back in the US.

It is a standard question as the form is used for all applicants, many of whom have to meet the English requirement and a UK degree for example would be sufficient.
