tier 2 general extension process

I am due to apply for tier 2 extension next month. I know that I have to submit online application, I have a few queries which I would be grateful if someone can answer

1) do we have to visit visa application centre to submit biometrics or can it be done at the local post office?

2) how far advance appointments are booked in core service centers usually?

3) my current 3 years T2G visa expiry is 28th August, I plan to submit passport for extension in early June. When I will get my visa extension will the next visa be from 29th August or will it be whichever date home office stamps it? I want to ask this because in later case if I get extension of 2 years (say from 26th July) then I might be a month or so short of ILR (due in August 2021) and would have to maybe apply for visa for a month or so before I can apply for ILR

1. You need to attend UKCVAS. My understanding is that postal is no longer available with bio at Post Office.

2. Appointments are usually available within a couple of weeks. It really depends on where in the UK you are.

3. It will be from date of approval or possibly date in CoS. You should apply when you can be sure you won't end up with a shortfall for ILR requiring an additional tier 2 extension to cover a few weeks/couple of months.
