English language test b1

Post by Mehreen123 » Tue Mar 12, 2019 11:18 am

Hi

My partner has Tier 2 general visa and i am his dependent. We are preparing to apply for settlement (ILR)

I need to clarify a bit of my confusion about english language test. According to my understanding we need B1 level english test . Can u please guide if thats right and also guide which IElts test is enough??. ( as there are many types).
IELTS life skills is enough to prove B1 english skills.?? Both of us needs to do the same english language test? Or is it different for my husband because he is main applicant of Tier 2 general visa?

ALL adults applying for ILR must meet the English requirement. There is no different test for 'dependents' or 'main' applicants. It is the same test and the same requirement. The same applies to the LIUK test, you both have to do it.

You need either B1 test from an HO approved test provider or UK NARIC red route ELA and comparable assessment for a foreign degree.

Not sure what 'alternative' way you are looking for, but you only have two ways of meeting the requirement.

That does not matter. If you have NIC or NICOP, your citizenship number remains the same. This question is not important but if you have a NIC (even urdu) quote the citizenship number there.

Tier 2 general visa dependant to ILR

Post by Mehreen123 » Thu May 16, 2019 11:41 am

My husband is on tier 2 general visa and me and 2 kids (8 and 6 yrs old) are his dependent. we travelled in uk on 9 july 2014. my visa was issued on 12/06/14. and its valid until 01/07/19. me my husband and our 2 kids we all travelled on same date and got our visas issued on same date, moreover visa expiry is also same . My husband is going to apply separately on sueper priority basis. Me amd my kida will apply later .

I have a number of questions which are as follow:

1: will I be eligible to apply for settlement (ILR) at the same time as my husband? Or
Because of not being the main applicant and being a dependant, will I be eligible at different time ( later than my husband) ?

2: As I mentioned earlier, I will apply after my husband so when is the right time to submit my application? Can I do it right after my husband has submitted his application?
Or do I need to wait for the outcome of my husband's application?

3: I also do a small job in local school as a mid day assistant.
Do i need to mention that in my application ? like providing a letter from employer or my pay slips?

4: In the required documents they didnt asked for my bank statement. i dont have any joint bank accounts with my husband, only got joint utility accounts, which is not asked to provide. Should i provide them in supporting docs?

I hope you can help with these queries. Many thanks

You can all apply at the same time if you all meet the requirements. One form for all of you.
2: As I mentioned earlier, I will apply after my husband so when is the right time to submit my application? Can I do it right after my husband has submitted his application?
Or do I need to wait for the outcome of my husband's application?
You can apply together.
3: I also do a small job in local school as a mid day assistant.
Do i need to mention that in my application ? like providing a letter from employer or my pay slips?

Not required. Your employment is irrelevant for ILR.
4: In the required documents they didnt asked for my bank statement. i dont have any joint bank accounts with my husband, only got joint utility accounts, which is not asked to provide. Should i provide them in supporting docs?
Only your husband is required to provide one month bank statement and payslip to prove he meets the ILR salary requirement.

Thanks for all your replies, that was helpful.

Got one more query....
Can we upload more docs than required by the check list shown at the end of the form?
I mean like

marriage certificate to show the proof of marriage

Birth certificates of kids

Utility bills to show the proof of adress i.e me and husband living on same adress ?

Yes. But you should only submit what is asked for. Don't submit unnecessary documents.

Thanks that was helpful

my husband who was on tier 2 general visa, just got approved for ILR .... now me and my kids, who are his dependents are going to apply for ILR on standard application.

i was filling up the online form and came across this question.
Please enter the country you have lived in. You will be able to enter additional countries after you click save and continue. Include all countries no matter how long you lived there.

i am a bit confused in answering this question. i have been to a couple of countries like UAE and Bangladesh for visit on a visit visa. Am I suppose to mention all the travel history of my life ?
Or just need to mention the countries where i have been to live for a long time ..

One more thing my husband got the email saying that he will get his BRP in 10 days. do i need to wait for hi BRP to arrive or is it ok to apply now ? And if i CAN apply now then where to find the home office ref??

Only LIVED as it asks, not visited.

You should be able to apply now. Does the form ask for his reference number??

Yes it asked to provide brp number or ref number

And about travel history... kindly guide me about one more thing...
My husband used to work in UAE before coming here in uk (which he did mentioned in his application.)
I have been to UAE 3 times. 2 times on visit visa for three months each and one time on residence visa which was valid for 2 years.... but thing is that it got cancelled after 3 and half month due to change of my husband jobs.

Guide me , do i need to mention that visit in the form??
