What's the right way? Is there a way?

Post by gujalls » Thu Feb 14, 2019 3:59 pm

Hi,

My query is regarding getting British Citizenship for my daughter and confused or uncertain what/how it should be done.

I'm British Citizen - my younger daughter and elder son are also British Citizen while my middle daughter is still in ILR.
I got naturalized in Feb 2016 while my middle daughter was born in Aug 2015.

Should I register her as British Citizen?
Should I directly apply for Naturalization?
Should / Can I directly apply for British Passport?

Please can you suggest me the right thing.

Thanks

Where was she born?

What date exactly did you get ILR?

Was she born before or after you got ILR?

p.s. children are REGISTERED not naturalised. Only adults are naturalised.

Should I register her as British Citizen?
You need to register her as British on form MN1 under section 3(1) of the nationality act. She cannot apply directly for a passport as she is not British yet.

It is still form MN1 that you need to do first to register her as British.
