Hello All,
First forgive me if I am posting in the wrong section.
Basically the scenario is this, I am a UK citizen, married to a US citizen and have been so since 2000. Until 2007 we lived in the US where, through marriage, I had gained a green card.
In may of 2007, with a desire to live in the UK and expand my daughters view of the world, we moved to the UK, indefinite leave to remain being granted to daughter and wife.
Almost from the start, multiple things went wrong, but probably, the biggest stumbling block was my daughter, who dug her feet in and did much to avoid enhancing life here in the UK. So, on a holiday back to the US, and without any notice to her Mum, she just failed to return and has since announced her desire not to return to the UK.
Needless to say because of the rather harsh way she did this, my wife is devastated, and to some degree I am, though my anger at the hurt she caused my wife is blocking that for a bit.
It has just happened so a cooling off period is needed, but here is the question;
If my wife wanted to return to the US, where would I stand as her husband, uk citizen and holder of green card, but, who has been out of the US for close to 13 months now.
Sorry for this rather tedious post, which I hope someone can comment on.
Best Wishes.
