Spouse Visa

I would like to apply for a spouse visa for my wife. I am a British citizen. She will apply from Bangladesh. Her course will finish by December 2020. She can come to UK regular basis. The thing confusing me is when she applied for ILR after 5 years how many days max she can be outside the UK. Is that worth of applying for visit visa up to the end of the course or applied for a spouse visa.
