UK Spouse visa question

Hi,

I'm a UK citizen and i'll be applying for my American wifes UK Spouse visa soon and wanted to know wther or not she has to provide bank statements/pay slips?

Although she is currently employed, there is a chance that she will be unemployed 1 month prior to applying for the visa, will this be a problem?
