who is the sponsor?

We are sponsoring my wifes parents to visit from Pakistan. I am the one who is working, bank statements and savings are in my name....do we both act as sponsors or is it just me or does it even matter? Read somewhere you can't have 2 sponsors but I can't remember where and it might have been for a different category. Thanks
