SET M - Expired Language Certificate

Post by DavidScottish » Tue May 21, 2019 8:47 pm

Hi,

My wife is soon to be applying for the SET (M).

One thing I am confused about it the language requirement.

According to the website (Link) we can use an expired language test if:
  • It’s on the current list of recognised tests
  • We used it on a previous application
So we have used it on all previous applications (initial spouse visa + FLR(M)). :D So that part is OK.

But i am unsure if it is on the list of approved tests Link

The test was carried out in one of the approved locations (Table 3), but it does not appear on the Table 1 list. (I am sure it did in 2017 when we applied for FLR(M)).

The test she carried out was IELTS GENERAL TRAINING in FEB 2013. Is that the same as IELTS for UKVI? it seems new? Her test certificate also has the same grade scoring marking as shown in Table 2 for the UKVI test.

We basically want to know to save the hassle of doing a new test. Otherwise we will need to pay for a new test. Or is it worth us doing the new language test to cover all bases?

Thanks in advance!

The test has to be on the approved tests and centres list both. Just saving £150 can cost you a refusal and loosing £3k + additional stress.

Take this test:
