Hi all!
I hope this is the correct place to post, if I should be in a different forum then please let me know and I will be happy to move over. I've seen multiple threads about this sort of situation, but nothing regarding USA migration and how UK border control handle it.
My fiancé just had her documents back from the New York hub, with a vignette on the inside of her passport. We booked our tickets very soon after (as you can imagine, we're excited to be with each other again), and she is set to arrive on Saturday 22nd June.
So the problem we have just ran into is, her middle name is spelt incorrectly on the vignette. Her middle name is ROCHELLE, and it states that on the passport. The Vignette however, has ROCHELLLE (additional L).
We contacted our immigration lawyer, he told us we have 3 options.
1) Contact USCIS and ask them to fix it. IF they can not then-
2) Apply for a change in vignette (I think this is what he said), which would involve paying the application fees again, and the lawyer fees as it is a new application. OR FINALLY-
3) Show up and risk it. He said that any agent will see that the visa is for my fiancé, that all of the details are correct bar the middle name error, and that there should not be a problem.
We think it might come down to the mood of the agent once she arrives, which is obviously nerve–wracking.
We have also contacted the UK Visa and Immigration Helpline, who took our details and forwarded the information on to the Sheffield DMC. We have contacted the EntryClearance.Errors e-mail but believe that they will be unable to help, since she is not currently within the UK.
She has contacted the USCIS as well, and they have passed her on to a department that is meant to deal with this sort of issue, and she is currently waiting for a Call Back.
So what I really want to ask is, what do you think will happen if we can't get it resolved? Has any one been through, or heard of, a similar situation coming from the United States?
Thank you for your time, we are nervously awaiting any sort of advice or information.
