1. The 10 year limit applies to the BRP card. It expires and you have to renew it. Your entitlement to indefinite leave does not expire/lapse. After 10 years you just need a new BRP card.
2. Not sure. Many members mention that it indicates the route of settlement (i.e. refugee). This is unfortunate, however I suspect most settled refugees naturalise as BC soon after. It is also a reminder that after holding ILR, if the Home Office believes that you are no longer refugee (get national passport, travel to country sought protection from, etc.) or you obtained the status by deceit you are still in risk (albeit low risk) of losing it.
Yes still if you obtain or travel without permission to back home ILR will be revoked

Once you have BC then you are no more citizens of your previous country and you are protected under British law.

Do not think so anyone not apply for BC with in time unless *************** lolz

No worry about anything , do not do any crime or thing harm your status

Refugee, and settlement it’s under UN 1951 country promise to UN

On other hand it’s refugees moral duty to remain faithful with county which protect us and give us respect and equal rights, equal opportunities

Last thing to say stay faithful

5 years limited leave expiry: 30/03/2019
Applied online for SET(P) ILR: 04/03/2019
Documents submit by post : 04/03/2019
Biometric done: 04/03/2019
Acknowledgement email: 05/03/2019
Status progress emails: - 04/04/2019, 07/05/2019

🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Just received call from solicitor my ILR and Letter arrived 2 days ago, Due to holidays he Cnt contact me

Approval letter: - 04/06/2019
BRP received:- 04/06/2019
It saying

type of permit :refugee settlement
Remarks : indefinite leave to remain

Still have expiry 2024 but before can apply Citizenship

Thanks to all and admin

Hope all of you guys will get your soon

God is great
Congratulations.I recieved same ILR BRP valid until 2024,it is due to change of card after 2024.Refugee ILR is totally different than ILR.You are still a refugee until apply for BC which you have to wait for another 5 years if were illegal at the time of asylum application.Going back home after Refugee ILR simply gets you ILR revoked. In most cases people go to home country after BC but these days HC can cancel BC if it suspects the refugee status was obtained fraudulently. It is hard. When I become BC I will go to home country doesnt care about home office politics.

Just some friendly advice: This wishful statement that is not wise to be made before becoming a British citizen. Also for most refugees with a real/legitimate reason to receive their status, travelling under a different nationality (British in this case) may not be that helpful when it comes to the issues/prosecution/threats at home that forced them to flee. I can understand the frustration, but I am just giving my 2 cents here...

Based on previous members experience, you should expect the answer within 2 weeks... which is the most likely scenario.

My wife applied near your dates, 7 March, did 14 March biometrics and hasn't got il the answe yet (last was 7 June progress email).

Good luck and keep us posted!

Hi Everyone,

I have been silently observing this group for just over a month and wondering if anyone has got answer to my query.

I am a Gay refugee from Pak and was granted assylum back in Jan 2016 after successful review in the court. I have ilr due next year , now i am aware that its still long way to go but i needed to clear few thing off my mind.

I went to Saudi Arabia back in 2017 after obtaining umrah visa on my travel document , do you think it can be a problem when i apply for my Ilr next year? Does anyone else had the same scenario too? I have also been all around Europe so many times. But the main worry is regarding the Saudi Arabia visit. I Know HO clearly states that refugee cannot go the home country which in my case is Pak and i havent been there neither i will. However,i have some doubts about SA too.

Can someone clear this up if they had the same situation?

Thank you :)

Hi Ali,

You will not have any issues as-long as you didn't go back to home country.

hello all, I have been silently observing this group for just over awhile now and have some question with my case.

i'm a refugee and ready to apply ILR before end of the month, but when i start online application i found out that some question that i not sure about it.

1) me and my partner granted refugee at the same time 5 years ago. we got married 3 years ago. now, when it asked did you have any dependence on this application, shall i say Yes or No?

2)do we need to apply ILR together under one application or do separate application?

3) what kind of document do we need to prepare? (Bank stat, pay slip, marriage certificate, council tax?)

4)its worth to have a solicitor to handle my case? if yes how much do they charge roughly?

i am really appreciated whoever could give me a guide and i am really worry about it since i need to submit it all before end of this month.

If you or your wife did not rely to each other's application the answer normally should be No. However, if you say Yes and then that they do not apply with you, you can explain that they did not get their status as a family member.

2)do we need to apply ILR together under one application or do separate application?
If you both are eligible (within 30 days of expiry of 5 year refugee leave), you can. Otherwise you are allowed to apply separately in any case, provided you apply within the time limits before current leave expires.

3) what kind of document do we need to prepare? (Bank stat, pay slip, marriage certificate, council tax?)
Marriage certificate, only if you apply together. None of these if you apply alone. This application does not have residence or work requirements. However, it asks you if you have been away from the UK for more than 3 month at a time.

4)its worth to have a solicitor to handle my case? if yes how much do they charge roughly?
Not necessary. The form is simple and does not require more documents than proof of identity and correct/honest answers.

i am really appreciated whoever could give me a guide and i am really worry about it since i need to submit it all before end of this month.
Please see my opinion above. Good luck!

Hello,
Not sure but Is it necessary to write a cover letter to send with the application? Or just simply fill in application form online and submit the documents with it? Please share.
Many thanks
