Marriage Misa Question

Post by MrPasgit » Mon Jul 01, 2019 9:18 am

I am a British citizen and my partner is from a non-EU country. We have met in Asia and got married in the mosque (duo to her family requirements.) Now I am planning to apply for a Marriage Visitor visa for the intention of getting a civil marriage registration, and have a ceremony.
I have checked the government website, though few things are not very clear
https://www.gov.uk/marriage-visa/docume ... st-provide

Given the information below as shown on the website:
1-proof that you can support yourself during your trip, for example, bank statements or payslips for the last 6 months
2-proof of your future plans for the relationship, for example, documents to show where you’ll live
details of where you intend to stay and your travel plans - you should not pay for accommodation or travel until you get your visa

You can also supply the following to support your application:
3-details of the marriage or civil partnership and proof that you’ve paid money for some of its costs

So my question is 1st, can I provide a document showing my savings in UK and my payslip to proof that I can support her? or the document must be in her name?

secondly, we are currently living together abroad, is that enough to satisfy point-2?

Thirdly, point 3, what sort of document does that mean?

Many thanks,

Pasgit

There is no requirement to marry in the UK or register a foreign marriage in the UK if you have married abroad and it is a recognised marriage.

See users previous topic. Seems they considered the spouse visa but with living abroad and not in the UK and would still somehow qualify for ILR as non residents.

Hi, thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, we are not legally married yet, and we intending to do so in the UK by having a small wedding.
