Where do I apply for from schengan visa

Post by dhulharsh » Mon Jul 15, 2019 9:47 pm

Hello everyone

I am an Indian Passport Holder and UK Resident. I would like to apply for Schengan visa from France Embassy as my longest stay is in France area. My itenirary is as per below

Prague (Czech Republic) from 30 Aug to 01 Sep (3 days- first entry)
France (from 09 Sep to 15th Sep) (7 days - most number of days)
Amsterdam (10th April 2020 to 22nd April) (4 days)

I have read the rules and it mentions that apply from the embassy of the country where you are going to spend the most time. I wasn’t sure if this means apply from the country where you are going to spend the most time in your single trip/first entry?

So if my trip was 10 days starting from 1st Sep to 10th Sep (of which I was going to spend 7 days in France and 3 days in Prague) I should apply from France Embassy.

But as my current plan is to travel to two countries in two different trips I should apply for visa from prague embassy ?

Can anyone help clarify this?

Thanks in advance

Kind regards
Harsh

Hi,

Unless the French embassy (that is the embassy that you should apply a Schengen per your itinerary) gives you a one year visa then you do not have to worry.
Your itinerary has almost 7 months in between the time when you will be in France and going to Amsterdam. I suggest you apply for the first segment (Czech Republic and France). You might indicate that you would like to have a longer visa as you are planning to travel in Schengen area later next year. This you can do in a cover letter. However, if this is your first time to apply for Schengen visa, getting a longer visa (more that 90 days) might be difficult.
