UK Ancestry Visa

Post by david john » Tue Jul 23, 2019 11:20 am

Hi there, I'm new to this site, so my apologies if I'm changing the topic of someone else's thread!

My grandfather was born to Irish parents in Singapore in 1911. His birth certificate listed him as being a British citizen.

My father was born in Malaya in 1947 and his birth certificate lists him as also being a British citizen.

Given this connection to the UK, am I eligible for a UK ancestry visa?

Thanks for your thoughts.

The requirement is that you must have a UK Born grandparent. A British grandparent born out of the UK would not qualify.

https://www.gov.uk/ancestry-visa/eligibility
Your ancestry
You must also show that you have a grandparent born in one of the following circumstances:

in the UK, including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man
before 31 March 1922 in what is now the Republic of Ireland
on a British-registered ship or aircraft
p.s. I split your post to its own topic.
