I have managed to enter my parents birth registration date instead of birth date on the FBR form. Has anyone had experiences with correcting errors on the FBR application form while they are being processed by the DFA?

Here is my FBR timeline so far.

15 October 2018: FBR application submitted to the Embassy of Ireland in Berlin, Germany
24 October 2018: Embassy of Ireland requested additional supporting documentation
[19 November 2018: Documentation requested from another country]
[07 April 2019: Documentation received from another country]
07 April 2019: Additional documents submitted to the Embassy of Ireland in Berlin, Germany
10 April 2019: Email acknowledging the receipt of the FBR application and supporting documentation
FYI:

18 June 2019: Added to FBR
25 July 2019: FBR received

In the end it was surprisingly quick. I expected a long delay but perhaps my application somehow bypassed the Brexit queue. Irish passport application is up next.

Congratulations on becoming an Irish citizen. It does seem that to some extent you managed to bypass the congestion that many are experiencing with the direct to Dublin route. Unfortunately, the majority of people on this board are direct applicants and we are still dealing with people who applied in mid August who have not been added. We are certainly nowhere near October additions at this stage.

I wish you a speedy passport application process.

Thank you! :D

I know. I was already mentally prepared for a 12-14 month wait. I submitted my original FBR application already in October 2018, which seems to have been on hold but perhaps Berlin or Dublin processed it and then just checked the authenticity of the additional document, which they had requested. In the end, we don't know it exactly as the whole process is still pretty much a black box.

Good luck and lots of patience to everyone still waiting.

Well, this just added insult to injury. I am currently at 11 months and 2 weeks. A few weeks ago I called the FBR office in Dublin. I was on hold for 27 min, the rest of the call was 3 minutes. I gained no usable information from this call except that I was in the queue. I just received my phone bill. I was on WiFi calling.... 27 minutes on hold and 3 minutes speaking to someone (and on hold while he looked it up).
$115 dollars... I’m like ..you have got to be freaking kidding me...the struggle is real folks😐

Laurie

Your phone company certainly knows how to charge. May I suggest using Skype to call the DFA? It is far cheaper. I use it for conversations with family and for contacting various agencies like HMRC and Irish revenue. A call of the length you talked about would cost around $2 using that method.

I was lucky that I had the embassy to call and that they actually answered their calls. They were also good with E-Mail. Going the direct to Dublin route is a definite disadvantage it seems both in terms of processing times and communication compared to going through an embassy. It used to be the faster pathway of the two.
Thanks for the Skype info! I had assumed because I was on WiFi calling that it was going over the internet. But, you know what happens when you ASSUME! 😂😂. I can’t lose the laughter😂

Thanks so much Sulla for all the effort you put in here. Looks like quite a job keeping it all straight! Much appreciate you!
I also want to thank Sulla for going above and beyond in tracking everyone’s dates and progress. If it wasn’t for you and this forum, I’m absolutely positive I would have lost my mind by now. This is the ONLY place with this kind of information. We would all be crazed living in limbo!!

Thanks Sulla!!

Michael

I have not seen you around for a while. I just want to ask if your application has shown up in the passport tracking system yet and what estimated date you are being given.

I hope this is going well for you. After the FBR process delays you experienced, you deserve some luck.

Hi All

Long time lerker! Here is my timeline:

Applied/submitted application 28/08/2019
E-mail application received 31/08/2019

Submitted via London Embassy - nothing heard since - I've tried calling a few times and got through but no news - I recently emailed on fbrclarification@***.ie (May this year) received personal reply but no real news apart from up to 12 months - I'm now at 11....

Shame its taken so long as I toured Ireland in June and visited my great grandfathers old farm (not much left) and the birthplace of my grandfather - would have liked to done so as an Irish citizen - but not the end of the world!

Got a text from my cousin Liam (Upliam) today and he advised me to check in as you were looking for me.

As you may recall my other cousin Donna was my co-applicant during the FBR and we both got approved and received our FBR certificates. In the time since, Donna mailed her passport application to the consulate and it was received on July 1st. I decided to deliver my application myself and have it looked over by staff, I delivered mine in person on July 5th, which is 3 business days after her (July 4th Holiday in USA). Since I decided to pay for both mine and Donnas passports I kept a record of the moneygram money orders.

July 1, Donna application received at Consulate.
July 5, Mine hand delivered, original docs and FBR given back after staff copied them.

July 10, Donnas money order cashed
July 11, Donna application in tracker with a date of Sept 9

To date, my money has not been cashed and application not in tracker.

Call to consulate to ask about money order and status as the money order was concerning. I was met with this reply “ 1st, Im sure you were told that it will not appear in the tracker for 10 weeks and number 2, you can NOT track a money order, they money is taking out of YOUR account and put into an account for the money order and you cant not track that! I then informed her “you are wrong, I withdraw CASH from my bank, went to CVS and purchased 2 moneygram money orders for my application and my cousins application, there are instructions on how to track the money order with the serial nmbr printed on the money order and the reciept portion. Mine as not been cashed but my cousins had been cashed weeks ago, her application was in the tracker 9 days after it was delivered to your office, mine has not been cashed and my application is not in the tracker. She told me that she can not discuss her application with me and that I can not track a money order... as if I didn't just expain that moneygrams can be tracked.. totally useless!

Hi Michael,

Has Liam heard anything yet? it should be about time for him to be getting some good news in the post on the FBR front.

As for the passport application process, I'm sorry that you are having a bit of a nightmare with it. I can't understand why you have been told it will take 10 weeks to appear in the system, whereas, Donna's clearly was there after only 9 days. It makes no sense. In fact, it makes just as much sense as being told that you cannot track the progress of a trackable money order.

The consulate in Boston must be much busier than the embassy in China. It seems to take them a while to get things underway in terms of processing. I imagine they are contending with a heftier volume of applications and other business. In contrast, the embassy in Beijing was a scene of jolly tranquility. I assume they only see a handful of people per day.

Let us hope that your application makes it on to the tracker soon.

Hi Sulla

I have applied for fbr and my application was received Oct 22nd 2018. I have called numerous times and been told it will be Oct 2019 before I get added but I'm seeing a few people have been granted their citizenship in less than a year so I am staying hopeful for August September. This thread is amazing and thank you for your help.

Right there with you, I hit the 11 month mark last week. I had hopes raised when Michael received his congrats, he was days ahead of me. But that has been a month and a half since... no rhyme or reason.... pretty sure it will happen, just so hard for this day and age that there is no better way of keeping abreast of where the heck things are, and when to really expect any news.
Hanging in there, excited for the day when it is complete!

Great News Laurie! Sounds like you are basically approved. Your 'Congratulations' email should be next. I'm one week behind you, so hopefully this means they are working on all the August 2018 applications.

Really great news Laurie, so happy for you, us!! It is pretty sweet to watch as the lot of us are getting to the finish line! Can you please tell us what country you applied from? It seems to be a bit different for each country.

Thanks for letting us know so quickly!

So hope to be hearing something along with you upliam, mine is either the same day as you, or the next. The last time I emailed them to inquire they responded that they had received my application on the 22nd, but the original email that it was received came in on the 23rd so I had used that date as received when I first posted here. Either way, please let us be now!!!

With all the recent Aug applications being approved, I feel like we are all alumni now! Wr should somehow keep in touch independently of this board! Maybe meet in Dublin for a pint?
