Approval received

Post by yngjedi45 » Tue Mar 29, 2005 4:24 am

First off thanks for everyone's input. I started out in the dark and by reading through all the posts got a good idea of what I needed to do. Thanks again, and fingers crossed for those of you still waiting.

Received by HSMP 3-3-05
Approval letter dated 9-3-05
Ref # 036483

What I turned in

1.)Cover letter describing the following.
-Educational background -15 points claimed (original college\university certicifate)
* I'm from the US, I was told to use the terminology of certificate instead of diploma. My understanding is that a diploma can be received which does not qualify as graduate level in this sense.

-Work Experience- 35 points
*Letters from present and past employers detailing what levels of graduate and senior level work I performed. I had my present employer validate my salary.
*Organizational charts showing where I am in regards to the rest of the organiztion to only further prove my senior role.
*Job descriptions for all positions held again showing under the experience category the necessity of either a degree or degree plus experience.

-Past earnings - 25 points
*original W2 slips
*past 12 months pay stubs
*Letter from accountant validating past salary
*print out of exchange rate on the day I applied

-Achievement in field- not claimed
-HSMP priority Application - not claimed
-Partner's Achievements- not claimed

2.) Application
3.) Supporting documentation

* I had NO job offers, and had scheduled no interviews. I printed out examples of positions I would qualify for IF I had a visa.

Off to get EC.... Hope to be over there in mid-June.

Thanks again to everyone for thier posts.

Congrats on your success, all the best with your EC.

I dont think the only reason for moving from one country to the other are all primarily economic. in any case you will find that quite a large number of immmigrants to the UK are from USA and Australia, be it on HSMP or work permit scheme, even though these are developed countries

Exactly what I was thinking f2k. I am from New Zealand and my reasons for moving here are not at all economic. I must say it irks me slightly to be referred to as an 'economic' migrant. The money I make here versus cost of living is pretty much like for like with NZ - all considered I'm probably slightly worse off here.

My reasons for relocating to Britain are as follows:

- I prefer the working environment here, with larger companies, I am able to specialise more.
- Being of British descent, (unfortunately 3rd gen New Zealander so no visa benefits) I consider Britain where I am from in some ways and feel very much at home here.
- The lifestyle, including the social scene, ease of travel, shopping, food, pubs.
- The weather. Seriously. Compared to the NZ cities of Dunedin or Wellington, the weather here is fantastic. Winters are just as dark and cold in Dunedin and Wellington is a lot more windy. Summers in London beat them both hands down.
- The fact that I live in the greatest city in the world.
- The people are marvellous here. I find the English generally very much of a similar sense of humour and generally like minded.
