Making China appointment while in UK?

Post by aarontyt » Wed Jul 31, 2019 8:52 pm

Hello all,

Hoping to get an advice on this.

My wife is currently on a Tier 2 ICT dependent visa and she has been offered a Tier 2 general visa.

Just wondering once she get the CoS can she make the online application and appointment for China whilst in UK? Or will that void the application? Is it better to do that after she’s back in China?

Many thanks

I was in your same situation. Though technically you can do that form filling and book appointment , the facts that you convey in your appointment about your recent travel history (Duration of stay) and dependents location (if applicable) will be incorrect.

Eg : Do you live with your dependents : Yes / No (Considering they are in UK in ICT , you must say no here as you are applying from home)

It is better to complete the application after reaching china physically. You can always complete the application earlier. But submit and pay after your travel with exact facts as you stand that moment.

I’ll be applying my dependent visa separately. Surely when they check her documents they’d see that she used to live in UK on a dependent visa?

I feel like the only requirement was to submit application in person in home country but where to submit online appointment shouldn’t matter. But I suppose it’s best to be extra cautious dealing with visa matters.

I said everything from your wife perspective :-) As I am too in process of changing from Tier2 ICT dependent to Tier 2 general. I had said my kids are my dependent financially.(Excluded my hubby) in my application.

I will say what I did. I completed my application before my travel. Did not submit it. Went to India. Submitted my application on the day I landed along with IHS payment and application payment. I got appointment next day itself at VFS center but since I needed couple of days to finish TB and Police Certificate. So booked a later date.

Where to submit online does not matter. When to submit (After your travel or before your travel)?- I personally feel this too does not matter. You can answer the application assuming you are in home country. But better be safe than sorry as there are no clear answer or cases of this on this forum to be precise for this query.

What is the point in completing the application and paying the hefty IHS fees upfront when you have other documents to be sorted :-) like Criminal Record clearance, TB , UKNARIC etc

I advice if you are sure to get CoS try to get UKNARIC through red route upfornt as it takes 15 days in standard mode unless you are trying to proved english skills by other testing means.
