Child - IHS Fee

Post by smithy101 » Thu Aug 08, 2019 9:37 am

Hi All,

I applied for my Husband and Step-Son to join me in the UK (priority application - so hopefully not long to go!), they submitted bio-metrics on 4th July and I have been informed by immigration that the application is waiting for a decision to be made. I know they have contacted the family court where my Husband and Son resides as his birth mother had to give consent for our son to fly. The court also confirmed the relevant paperwork was sent to UK Visa & Immigration.

I am a little concerned as I have not had a request to pay my son's IHS fee. As we know there is a glitch in the system whereby you do not pay on application but you are later sent a link.

Does this have any indication in the outcome of my application? Or am I thinking too much into it? Do I just have to wait it out to be contacted?

Would it be worth me paying via an external link (Gov.uk website), I would imagine this would have the same glitch.

Anyone else with a similar experience?

Our experience on non priority last year was it was about a month or so before got the email.

Depending on what country you apply from paying the IHS using the UK gov site may be cheaper as if your country of origin is not required to pay in pounds you have to pay at a very bad exchange rate. Up to 5% above interbank rates and depending on card get stung for Forex charges.

We fell into that trap and was not aware that apparently can pay the other way.

When you get the email you will have the complication of having to get the payment matched so may be better to wait and take the hit.
