Extending Tier 4 Student visas within the UK

Hi,

I’m applying to extend my tier4 student visa for my new course.

On the government website it’s said the decision for issuing the visa will be made within 8 weeks.
I’m just wondering in everyone’s personal experience, how long would it be normally? Surely it cannot be 8 weeks for them to make a decision on issuing my visa.

I don’t really want to wait for 2 months for my visa and if I want a quicker decision I’d have to pay an extra £500 on top of the visa fee which is too steep.

8 weeks is the service standard, but it's often quicker. The international student adviser at your university will have the best sense of the current average turnaround times for leave to remain applications.
