Referee photo, passport, and Proof of language

Post by starrywheat » Wed Aug 21, 2019 10:12 pm

Would like to get some help regarding citizenship application (I have researched online at the official HO website and other forums but don't get clear answers):

1. Do the referees need to sign at the back of my photographs on the declaration form ? The form doesn't mention they have to, but just want to confirm.
2. If I used my degree certificate as proof of language skills in previous settlement application and was accepted, does that mean I now don't need to provide the NARIC letter to proof my degree is equivalent to a UK degree, and the certificate of the degree is good enough?
3. With the new application system, i.e. UKVCAS, does that mean we can keep our passport and use it to travel while waiting for the application result?
Any help would be appreciated !!!!!

Yes, the refree has to sign quoting your name and date of birth.

If it was accepted at the time of ILR then should be no problem ( seniors can explain well, please)

Yes, you can keep your passport,if I am not mistaken.

Any help would be appreciated !!!!!

Where does it specifically say that the referee must write the applicants name and date of birth on the back of a “photograph”?
The form is gonna be uploaded. How shall HO confirm that anyways?

Thanks for both reply.
After more reading through this forum, it occurs to me that I have satisfied the English requirement and the NARIC letter doesn't seem to be required.
But then it is still listed on the document checklist. I wonder what I should do about it? Should I just simply not check that box when submitting the application and provider all other documents, or do I need to add some cover note saying the NARIC letter is not provided here because I already satisfied the English requirement?

New Language requirement

Post by starrywheat » Thu Aug 22, 2019 10:46 pm

As I was reading the forum and asked in a previous post about the language requirement, I was convinced that the UK NARIC letter is not required as my degree certificate was accepted in previous settlement application (ILR granted 2018). But then I find this official AN guide booklet (https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... 1478875406), that say:

P.18
Majority English-speaking countries
If you have a degree that was taught or researched in a majority English- speaking country (excluding Canada), you must provide:
• your degree certificate
• an Academic Qualification Level Statement (AQUALS) from UK NARIC
confirming the qualification is equivalent to a UK qualification

and then on P.19
If you were exempted from the knowledge of language and life requirements when you applied for settlement you must now meet the requirement before applying for naturalisation unless you are exempted on grounds of age or physical or mental impairment.

So does that mean the NARIC letter is required now ?

Very confused now. Please help

And also, which kind of statement is required: the £125 one (red-route) or the $59.5 one (blue-route) ?
In my case, it is
Majority English-speaking countries

Correct. Do not select it
