TB Test for Spouse Visa

Post by AshNaz » Sun Aug 25, 2019 2:46 pm

Hi there,

I am planning to bring my wife to the UK through the Family Visa as a spouse.

She has taken a TB test in her native country before going to Turkey, where she has successfully applied for a resident permit.

As she has resided there for almost a year, the validity of her TB test has expired. My question is, as Turkey is not part of the listed countries and as she has resided there for over six months, will she be required to take the TB test again?

The reason I ask, is that a family friend has his application refused on this basis and his wife's circumstances were the exact same as mine.

Is there an official policy on this?

I would appreciate any answers.

She won't be required to do/redo her TB test because she resided at least 6 months there

Who does not need to be tested
You will not need a TB test if any of the following apply:

you’re a diplomat accredited to the UK
you’re a returning UK resident and have not been away for more than 2 years
you lived for at least 6 months in a country where TB screening is not required by the UK, and you’ve been away from that country for no more than 6 months
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Thanks @seagul.

Does the entry clearance officer have any discretion to overrule the validity?

I say this as my friend's wife's application was refused on that basis.

Also, what do you mean by:
and you’ve been away from that country for no more than 6 months
Is the "country," their native one or the one where they are residing in?

If it's the latter, my wife has been residing in Turkey for more than six months

Your friend must have been refused due to other reason but in your case you will be exempted from tb test. Read official quote above the same ukvi caseworker/airport staff will also have.
