Change employment but got lower salary, will it effect ILR?

Post by Tman90 » Sun Aug 25, 2019 1:21 pm

Hi there,

This is my first post. I tried to find the related topic but cannot find any.

I'm on Tier 2 with my current job, the salary rate is 34,600. I got an offer from the new job for 34,000. (Entirely new employer. They agree with the Tier 2 process)

My question is: Will this small reduction of salary affect the potential of ILR application?
I plan to apply ILR in the next 2 years. The reason I decided to move is that the current job is dead-end regards salary while this new employer has a good potential to risen my salary to the level of the ILR minimum salary requirement where from my research, is 36,900 for 2021.

I appreciate your opinion in advance!

Yes it can. These are the min salary thresholds for ILR under Tier 2 general:

ILR applications made before 6 April 2019: £35,500
ILR applications made before 6 April 2020: £35,800
ILR applications made before 6 April 2021: £36,200
ILR applications made before 6 April 2022: £36,900
ILR applications made on or after 6 April 2022: £37,900

Just to be clear, the Home office can question the application why I move to a new company that pays slightly less even though I reached 37,000 in the year 2021?

The RLMT that the company did has the maximum salary range at 34,000 so this causes my question. They might have to redo RLMT again. If it worth it, I will ask them to do.

Thanks

HO does not care you changed to a job that pays less. They make decisions as per rules for ILR. However getting raises at the last minute that push your salary above the ILR threshold could get your sponsor investigated
