Taking child outside uk for 5 months

Post by rana80 » Mon Sep 02, 2019 5:48 pm

We are planning to let our child spend some time with our parents abroad for around 6 months. Me and my wife will come back shortly after 3 weeks while the child spends time with grandparents. Child was born in UK( british passport holder). I am a british citizen(through settlement) and my wife is on ILR. Is there something we should be aware of or get approval from.

No. However unclear how old the child is as you don't say!!

The one thing you must do is inform the benefits office(s) as you can't claim benefits of the child is out of the UK for 12 weeks or more. That would be child benefit and any other child related benefits you claim.
