ILR delays, and moving from a job to a startup

Post by kforcar » Sat Aug 31, 2019 1:53 am

Dear Colleagues,

I'm a British Citizen and have applied for my wife's ILR (SET(M) via online, standard service), but have not received any response yet. Application submitted mid-May 2019 and biometrics took place on the 1st of June. I would much appreciate your help on the following two questions:

Q1: How long can it take for the ILR to come through?
Q2: I've been planning to quit my job and setup a tech-business, but have been awaiting my wife's ILR to come through as I'm relying on the salaried income. Should I keep on waiting for it or go ahead with my resignation/setting up the business now that more that 3 months have passed since we made the application? Will the latter complicate the ILR process?

Many thanks in advance.

Makes sense for you to move on to better things in ur life than to hold till approval comes through.
The consideration ought to be at the time of filing of the application did you cover all the requirements..
Are you employed by a big company?

Good afternoon Aman90,

Thank you for your reply. Yes I met all the requirements: the financial requirement was met by miles and I'm reasonably happy with the documentation, LiUK, English language test etc.

I work for a small tech company acquired by a FTSE-100 company last year. Is this also relevant to our application please?

Usually during the application process changing job is not wise because caseworker can call to your employer and in case of not finding you there might refuse/delay your application (not everyone get called).
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Well the bigger the company the less chance that HO will confirm ur job with your employer.
If I was you.. I’d wait.
